Roll out the barrel…

of “oh boy” stuff I probably shouldn’t attempt?

Greetings, friends!

Firstly, I wanted to make sure you knew that I’m going to try my very best to get back to our normal streaming schedule now that the Sound of Music officially opens tonight and my schedule will be more predictable.

So - Crooner Coffee Hour returns tomorrow morning at our normal time! Excited to catch up with you and play some songs that aren’t the same 20 songs I’ve been practicing and performing over and over for the last few weeks… but while we’re on that note…

Listen, I know I’ve been quiet and because of my attempt at burnout recovery I haven’t been able to deliver as much content as I usually try to throughout the year so far in 2022, so I had this crazy idea that I probably should have left in the “someday/maybe” pile - but life is short…

I’ve decided to release a new “Alone!” Ian and I are currently working on artwork, so hopefully I’ll have a cover to show you soon. To commemorate this cool thing I’m doing this summer and to take a stab at some of my most-favorite songs ever, I’m putting together a collection of my top-pick tunes from “The Sound of Music.”

“Alone: The Sound of Music Collection” will be a short EP of about 5 or 6 songs (with one or two bonus tracks for those that grab it from me directly).

The longrun idea is that this collection will be available (as always) on streaming services, but that I will also make the digital copy available as “pay-what-you-want” through my website once it’s completed.

Because I think having physical copies would be beneficial for me throughout the run of this show, I would like to also print CDs. For a project like this (with “cover” song licensing, artwork, pressing, and release fees), it will cost me about $800-$1000 to get it going.

For those of you interested in supporting me in making this happen, anyone who throws $10+ into my PayPal tip jar with “sound of music” in the notes will receive a digital copy as soon as I’ve got it listenable ($20+ will get you a CD and includes shipping, delivered late July).

my feature moment in our Polka-Band “preshow” segment

I’m planning to kick off the announcement and promotion for this starting with CCH tomorrow, and continuing until its completion, hopefully the end of next week.

We have our monthly Vault concert coming up on this coming Monday, and for that I’ve put together my favorite “Lex Land” songs from the few years to feature. Songs that feel really solid, where I feel like the voice for this project really shines through - with that standard-throwback, almost-showtune-y vibe. So it’s safe to consider some of your faves will be among them, like “Beatrice,” “Safe and Sound,” and “I Wouldn’t Change a Thing.”

On Tuesday we’re finally getting our “One Big Dark Room” event for June. I’m looking forward to that too…

hope to see you sometime over the next few days!

❤️Lex
