Hello September!

The Vault Turns 1, 7s7d:2022,
September Daily Double Streams

It's September! For me, that means quite a few things, but possibly the biggest deal is that we're finally nearing Quarter 4, which is where all my favorite things happen.

The nearing of cooler weather, pumpkin spice everything, my birthday, my wedding anniversary, and all the fun holidays that come with this time of year really perk me up.

September is also when my annual songwriting challenge takes place ("7 Songs in 7 Days"). 7 Songs in 7 Days is the big hoopla campaign comprising the annual pledge drive for memberships here at the Vault (since I sorta neglect talking about it the rest of the year).

We celebrated the migration from Patreon to here, the inauguration of The Vault, and 5 wild years of 7 Songs in 7 Days campaigns last September with the even wilder 30 Songs in 30 Days venture... which was the final straw leading me to burn-out for the rest of 2021 and a lot of this year, too. 😂 But it's that time of year again and I can't wait to THANK YOU for another year of support with a slew of new songs.

Speaking of new songs, I recently joined the roster of a custom-for-you songwriting-service called Songfinch.

You can check out my artist profile here, but I've also uploaded my sample/"audition" song that I created for them into our Archive area.

This beginning-of-the-month connection is coming at you a little late since I've been pretty busy: (1) ramping up *toward* this year's 7s7d by activating the only Daily Double we've done so far this year (streaming twice each day - once in a FB/YT-combo-Crooner-Coffee-Hour and once again later in the day on Twitch, each day with a special theme), (2) the inherent tech prep/setup/troubleshooting, etc that goes along with doing 14 streams a week to different channels (3) prepping for an IRL event I'm really looking forward to for HAAM Day this year, (4) finishing up Alone: The Sound of Music Collection, in addition to myriad other little loose ends I've been trying to tie up.

2022’s 7 Songs in 7 Days will kick off next Saturday 9/17, concluding with song 7's submission to you on 9/23. I have IRL gigs 9/25 and 9/26, in addition to our standing Daily Double streams for the rest of the month, but we'll be forgoing our moorhaunter Wednesday night stream on 9/28 to do the big 7s7d-New-Song-Debut-Concert which is the tradition each year where I play all the new songs for you exclusively for the first time one right after the other.

I haven't had a chance to fully load the calendar with all the Daily Double event listings, but you can see a basic schedule over here. If I haven't dropped dead yet from exhaustion by then, I do intend to take off the first few weeks of October from streaming - Twitch for sure (probably reconstituting Disney night on 10/17), though there will probably be a CCH on FB/YT on 10/14.

If you're in Austin, I hope you'll consider joining me for an intimate performance on Tuesday 9/13 at the KMFA building. My dear friend (and brilliant pianist) Kevin Lovejoy and I have been rehearsing a very special set just for this - it will be a seated listening room environment in the gorgeous performance studio at the KMFA building for HAAM Day, which is an annual mega-fundraiser for a local organization that supports provision of health services for musicians in Austin.

I've been honored to be asked to represent the jazz contingent in Austin in the first-ever classical/jazz showcase hosted for HAAM Day, and my duo performance with Kevin will be sandwiched between two other locally-based, yet world-renowned classical treasures: The Miro Quartet and Anton Nel. The performances are 30 minutes each, and the whole event is free to attend- though, because of the intimate nature of the event, it is recommended that you RSVP in advance to secure your seat. You can do so here.

This is one of those very rare occasions where I’ll be truly "in my element" with a great player in a controlled environment, so this is really one of those "please-don't-miss-this" performance experiences and it's very unlikely to happen again, or, at least, anything close anytime soon.

There will be a more "typical"/casual event taking place with a few great female singer-songwriter friends of mine coming up in a few weeks, when I participate in an evening of performances with Erin Ivey, Guilia Milanta, and Grace Pettis at The 04 Center. Tickets are now on sale for that as well. I believe this will be a mostly solo-acoustic performance at the beginning of this great lineup.

I will continue to keep the event calendar at http://lexlandmusic.com/live current to the best of my ability, but, of course, for up-to-the-minute announcements (particularly regarding livestream broadcasts) you can join us at our forum at Discord to get notifications and reminders in real-time.

Our next Vault-exclusive concert will take place on:
September 28, 2022
to celebrate the end of this year’s
SEVEN SONGS IN SEVEN DAYS
