The monthly cover video returns!
I talked about this and all the related plans at length during our Vault Event on May 21 (<click that link if you’d like to watch the replay), but to recap here:
In an attempt to optimize my output in regards to content creation (for promotional ends to new folks), release schedule, and Vault deliverables, I’d like to try bringing back the pre-Vault style “cover videos!”
This will look like:
A video of a Cover Song (Holly Frost specifically, for now) every month
YOUR NAME (regardless of tier) in the credits of said video
A mixed/mastered AUDIO file from the video
This AUDIO file will also be released to the PUBLIC (later)
… and will help me move the needle on a number of things in one fell swoop on a regular basis, even if/when I can’t keep up with anything else.
I will, however, be doing this in lieu of a new original song each month for the foreseeable future. I’ve been mentioning this for a while, but I’ve been having a hard time with the new songs for the last couple years. It’s so deflating to keep adding new songs on top of an already-giant heap of tunes that I’m not releasing when time is already so scarce. So, I’d like to refocus my time and energy on these videos and recordings while working up and putting out recordings of original songs I have already written for now.
(I recognize that a new original song has been the primary deliverable and promise for all these years, and it might be a dealbreaker for you to continue as a Patron. If that is the case, I totally understand and would love to work with you on making it right. Just email me at info@lovelettermusic.com and let me know.)
If you do watch the replay, or made it to the live event, there is one difference that is notable: I decided to release “I’m Confessin’” a week earlier than I had originally decided (so, June 7 release instead of June 14 release).
Monthly Cover Video = Monthly Cover Release
These will mostly, if not entirely, be “live” performances of these songs, usually just me as a solo singing-guitarist (though I’d love to bring in guests when I have the ability). The plan is to record the performances well, studio-style, so that I can mix and master them and do any edits in post if necessary.
Then they will not only serve as social media content just as a video, but I can also get a public release from it that will hopefully sound decent!
As I always try to, I will deliver these items to you before they are made available to the public as a thank you for your support here at The Vault.
Introducing: The Holly Frost “Merit Badge”
I thought it would be really fun and exciting to provide something that would go along with each Holly Frost release, and I landed on an idea I am absolutely obsessed with: a “merit badge!”
Modeled after Boy Scout Merit Badges, I would like to offer a unique limited edition badge to our community for every release. I would eventually like these to be embroidered badges at the modern Merit Badge size of 2.25”, but because making that happen is beyond my current ability, I will, for now, and in the future, additionally, offer them as 1.25” Pinback Buttons (the traditional merit badge size).
For every release that I prepare, I will also create a corresponding badge. While they will be available for purchase, I will be GIVING AWAY 1 badge each to a live attendee during the following events related to each release:
1) our monthly Vault Debut Night
2) any YouTube Premiere live party for a release
3) any IG-Live pre-premiere party, the same night of (yet preceding) the YT viewing event
4) any Crooner Coffee Hour that takes place on a release day
While I have to crunch the numbers a bit more to decide on price, the 1.25” buttons will probably “retail” around $5 with packaging, and 2.25” embroidered badges will likely retail around $10 when I can make those happen. (I would also like to offer pennants and sashes to display your badges should you wish to pursue a collection, but these are still early days.)
Debut Night
Historically, I’ve delivered the monthly new item to you in advance of our monthly Vault event, but moving forward, I think it would be fun to SURPRISE you with the following month’s content/releases on Debut Night. (These are still happening on Third Tuesdays of the Month, but I have placed them back into the evening stream slot of 9PM EST.)
Not only will I live-debut any new material, but will also debut any new recordings or videos on that day, with delivery of files between that day and the last day of that month. Of course, if you attend the Vault Debut Night live, you’ll have an excellent opportunity of winning any related release badges, since Vault Night is only accessible by Vault members, and the odds to win will be greatly increased!
RE: CREDITS
It’s been a while, so let me know if you do NOT want your name in the credits, or would like to be credited differently than I have you credited in the video above. If you had a preference in the past, I tried to remember and apply it, but please remind me if I failed. There’s still time for me to make adjustments before this goes live :)
