Howdy! I'm Lex. I'm a working musician. As cheesy as it might sound, my life is music, through and through. Making it, listening to it, writing it, watching people make it. I've been learning and performing music for as long as I've been able to physically phonate - and now, to top it off, I live in Austin, TX - the "Live Music Capital of the World."

Though I've got a few albums released and get to do this crazy thing full-time, I've struggled all these years to find a better way to connect with music-lovers like me that are into what I'm doing, and to be able to create more releases without the assistance of a label or other false idols of the music industry. Then, finally... boom! 6 years ago, I launched a Patreon membership…

What's That?

Patreon is an awesome platform that allowed me to release my newest music and videos directly to supporters who contributed a monthly amount of their choosing for the last six years.

The platform is great, but not without its limitations, so in September 2021, I took the plunge to leave Patreon and create a custom and fully-loaded user experience on my own site - it’s called “The Vault,” and you’re currently standing at its door!

What I Release in The Vault:

• Songs: Brand new songs, previously unreleased studio recordings, new versions of older songs, cover songs, requests from Members (“Keyholders”) and more

• Music videos: Self-produced videos, concert videos, cute covers, and embarrassing vlogs where I may or may not have eyebrows

• Blog Posts & Poetry: deeply personal and intimate diatribes about my inner life and creative process

• New Releases: exclusive first-listens of new singles and albums

Why I Make Music:

I ponder at the meaning of my own life each day and how I can best serve humanity.

Unfortunately (?), I happen to be peculiarly skilled at one thing: wearing my heart on my sleeve and somehow stitching a song out of it.

Times are tough these days, right? It's hard to stay informed and not get sad, or hopeless.

I know what I can do is provide what I have and fulfill my purpose by serving others through artistic means. Art brings us closer together, lets us see light in the darkness, that there's community in feeling lonely, that we can shift and elevate ourselves and our world by coming together.

Why a Club like this?

When you become a Keyholder, you're diving into the deep-end with me. You're becoming my label, my producer, my audience, and my cheer squad! I'll come to you for advice when I'm stuck, for encouragement when I'm down, and I'll come with great gratitude at every baby step we make together.

You'll get early access to everything I make (and pretty much everything I ever have made), first and special access to discounts and promotions, and you'll be directing me on which things to do and create next.

In turn, Keyholder support keeps me at my desk at home so I can keep making content like recordings, videos, and albums (and spend all the extra time performing live online for you, or out in the world).

This arrangement especially is awesome, I think, for three reasons:
1) It's a win-win. You get access to a lot of cool stuff that wouldn't exist without you.
2) It requires a really small amount to make a huge impact. If a lot of folks contribute a little bit, that creates a serious foundation of support that will allow me to keep creating, giving you more stuff... wait... I guess that's still the win-win bit?
3) There is no middle man - no other platform, no label, no distribution, no streaming service. It’s just me and you and the music.

How Does It Work?

• As a Keyholder, you decide how much you'd like to pay per month

• Access to the Keyholder-Only Feed and content starts at $3

• All Keyholders receive access to all posts, regardless of contribution level

• Upon sign-up, you'll be charged your pledge amount immediately (for the current month, at a prorated rate).

• Monthly Pledges ever after will be charged on the 25 of each month (for the following month).

• Annual Pledges (the monthly Pledge amount for your tier, minus 20%) are charged recurrently based on the date of your signup

• Subscribers can change their pledge amount or cancel at any time.

Some of these releases will be exclusive to The Vault and some will also be released to the general public. All of them will be made possible by the support of my SuperFriends here at The Vault.

What To Expect:

On a monthly basis, you will receive:

• One Audio Recording of a brand-new original song

• One Music Video of a cover song of my choosing, or selected in a Keyholder poll

• Access to an exclusive evening online concert (usually featuring a special theme or guest artist)

Each year (typically in the Summer), Keyholders are delivered 7 Songs in 7 Days instead of that month’s single-song.

Instead of 7 Songs in 7 Days for 2021, we are celebrating the songwriting challenge’s 5th Anniversary with a special event: 30 Songs in 30 Days for the month of September.

Typically, each month’s original song includes a Prompt sourced from a Member, selected in a monthly lotto.

All monthly cover videos feature a credit scroll of all currently active Keyholders as a special thank-you dedication.

All new Keyholders have immediate access to ALL past posts and content (since the beginning of our Patreon experiment in 2016).

The Site:

My favorite favorite part of launching this new experience outside of Patreon is the customizability we will have for delivery and aggregation of content. (There are currently 100 original songs alone in The Vault, most of which are unreleased to the public.)

Upon signup, you’ll be directed to a center home “hub” for your tier, which will provide a nice little menu of everything you have access to that has been posted in the past (blog posts for all the new songs, streaming audio players, links to downloads, a calendar for upcoming events, and more).

You’ll also receive a welcome email which will help you navigate The Vault when you first join. Whenever new content is distributed, you will receive an email with a quick look and links to take you to the full post/downloads.

You will be able to access, stream, and/or download all available the content on both mobile and desktop so long as you have some kind of wifi or cell service connection.

Monthly Pledge tiers are available of course, but if you’re feeling super-committed, make an Annual Pledge and save 20% on your would-be monthly pledge throughout the year for your tier.

Monthly Pledges are charged on the 25th of each month (for the upcoming month), and upon signup at a prorated rate for the current month.

When you click on your preferred tier, you’ll be prompted to create an account and select your payment method.
