Another hard mental-health day today if I'm being honest. I stayed up way way way too late working (again) to try to get something "out the door" early this morning. So I slept in, realized the thing I worked on didn't really make much difference, and had lost most of the day.

I'm on Day 2 of another one of those multi-day-migraines, and while I had so so so much I wanted to get done today, I would've given up on the day completely if it weren't for this challenge and having to turn something in. Probably just would have gone into "protect-and-preserve" mode, huddled under a blanket with some comfort movie and a stiff cocktail before going to bed early.

But, alas, here's a song about how I was feeling instead 🤣

Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I couldn't quite fit the prompt phrase in exactly as it was a little long, but I did my best to get the idea of it included.

We’re just about to close the loop as far as the prompt-lotto goes… in other words, I’ve been making sure to only select one prompt per person among those who have submitted prompts so far (in order to give a fair/equal shot for everyone to have their prompt used in a song this month). We have one more prompt to go from a different person before I start back at the top, using a new prompt from one of the people who have had one of their prompts used already. Kinda hard to explain, but I hope you catch my drift.

That means… if you HAVEN’T had a prompt used in a song yet, submit one! Because odds are very good it will be used within the next week, as I’m trying to prioritize prompts now for those who haven’t had one used yet.

That said - I am now using my authority to “veto” things 🤣 I haven’t done this in the past, but I just want to make sure I’m using these writing opportunities to at least try to make things I might end up being able to use in the future. So: if the prompts are too silly, or too specific, if they are too long, or if there isn’t a proper name attached to it (I’m hoping you’ll include your first name and last initial at least when you submit), then they’re getting immediately disqualified. Don’t let that dissuade you from trying though. Most things pass through that sieve. There are some examples on the submission form to help guide you🙂

See you in the morning for Crooner Coffee Hour on Facebook ❤️
