Surprise! I’d like to (try to) bring back the monthly original song. Aside from the writing burnout, which I DEEPLY felt for basically all of last year, were feelings of frustration I had about “never getting to” making legit recordings for the monthly songs because I always ran out of time. So, for now, I think I will try to turn in a monthly song but release the pressure (only I was ever putting on myself) about the quality of this particular deliverable. If I have more time to devote to it, then that will be a bonus. If not, a phone demo is okay. Especially now that you’ll be getting a monthly release-ready deliverable with the monthly cover song recording (and hopefully quarterly fully-produced releases from the original projects, but we’ll put a pin in that for now…).
I cover this and more about this month’s original song in the video below, because, as I also mention in the video, these explanation posts always take a REALLY long time to write (unless I’m really pressed for time, and in that case I just don’t have the time to devote, so there’s not much info available for you), so I just decided to shoot this quick candid vid to explain my process.
Another special announcement: I also mention in this video something I’d like to call DEBUT NIGHT! As a way to reinstate (and hopefully make more exciting) our old monthly Keyholder evening broadcast, I’m preparing a monthly concert series of special segments, including live-debuts of the monthly new song, the monthly cover, plus some other stuff. It should be fun, silly, about an hour, but will give us an opportunity to get together when all else fails. Ideally it will be a time where I can take polls or get ideas from you, and I can give you a verbal update on streaming schedules, whatever the latest community events are, and progress on the bigger projects that might not warrant a whole post and email here…
Our debut DEBUT NIGHT will be tomorrow at 8PM EST for those who can make it.
