7S7D D1: “Puppy Love”
Phew! It has been a LONG day, y'all! I was feeling a little queasy from lack of sleep but also excited about this adventure I'm creating for myself this week. After a long shift at work, I got home and immediately felt better once I put on some comfy clothes and got some food in me.
There are a few prompts I have to get through to meet the March Song Game requirements, and the first is "puppy love" - so I decided to tackle that.
I haven't been sleeping well lately, and when I do finally get to REM sleep, I've been visited by an old friend that I really can't help but miss and wonder what they're up to, so to clear out the songwriting cobwebs I did what seems most natural when I want to write a song - try to work out whatever's pinging around in my subconscious mind and coming to me in dreams.
For being the first song I've written in a while, I'm pretty happy with the result. It's hard to get a new fingerpicking swing just right, so that of course could definitely use some work, but overall I like this little number and how open-ended the lyrics turned out - I think a lot of people could probably relate to it.
Thanks, everyone! Tomorrow I have the day "off" so I'm excited to delve a little deeper and possibly even do a little production on tomorrow's song!
