The Sound of Music
Tonight is the first show of Closing Week for The Sound of Music. We'll have done the show "properly" 33 times by the end of this week, plus 6 preview shows, but with rehearsals of course it was upwards of that.
This has probably been the most physically challenging thing I've done in my adult life, with my 2018 10K the nearest second. It's required a different kind of endurance, and it's taught me a lot of valuable lessons about my voice and body.
I'll try my best to remember them, but you know how these things tend to go...
I'm writing today to deliver a sample of Alone: The Sound of Music Collection! And, of course, just to check in.
In my last note I made a lot of big assumptions about my energy and time resources and was not actually able to do the two live stream broadcasts I was hoping I could, so those are being moved to next week (Tuesday and Wednesday).
In the coming weeks I really want to strive for quality over quantity, so streams might be short as I continue to migrate song sessions into the newest iteration of my sound setup and dial everything in - but we'll finally have our OBDR July stream on 7/26, and I'll do a Moorhaunter stream on 7/27. You'll probably see a lot of me online next week, and then I'm going to take about a week to regroup and catch up on things I'm behind on. Just about EVERYTHING in my life outside the show was put on pause, and I need to get my personal life back on track.
The following week I'm going to start digging into "work" again, but may not do any broadcasts as there's a lot to set up and I just want to hit some kind of "done" point for all the channels where I can just start the stream and feel confident that I can put in a solid few hours of performance.
Whether or not there is a Crooner Coffee Hour this week (7/22) will depend on if I can get the final details of this Alone Collection put together by then… it's looking good at this point, but I don’t have much discretionary time between now and then. (My hand injury is improved but it set me behind by quite a lot!)
I hope you enjoy this sample track from the new collection. It's been a labour of love but I think I'll be glad to have it as a keepsake of this time. If you pre-ordered a copy, CDs will still be a while yet (mid-August I think), but Digital Copies will be coming to you soon. It's pretty much ready, but I want to make a few mixing tweaks before I ship it out. I'm not sure how I feel about releasing it publicly... might just do it direct? Need to think on it a bit more.
