“Sweetheart” Turns 10!
So I've been teasing it for the last few days, but here's the big announcement:
my sophomore release Were My Sweetheart to Go... (2011) turns 10 this month. 🤯
It feels older, because we were just about done recording it in 2009, though we added "Ides of March" (a song I wrote on March 15, 2010, after my puppy died on the exact anniversary of my most recent breakup 💔). We even used a song that didn't make it onto "Orange Days" ("How Well You Do," which is sort of my version of an angsty Trent Reznor "bop"... I am the daughter of 2000s alterna-pop after all), which was written a few years before that.
The studio albums I made in my 20s feel a little like old journal entries I hope no one will ever see, but I know they've resonated with many of you over the years, and I'm grateful for the connection and that through them we might feel a little less lonely.
All this to say, I couldn't let this milestone pass by without any kind of acknowledgement. To celebrate, I'm giving away autographed copies of the original pressing for free until August 31, 2021. You cover shipping/handling, and I'll take care of the rest.
Additionally, I've revisited the songs from "Sweetheart" and given them a little attention, some fresh perspective, and am independently distributing a solo anniversary edition directly through my site. It's available right now for Pre-Order, but, spoiler alert: it's going to be your WILD CARD this month (so you might want to wait! 😜)
