So... I really was regretting making this public commitment of writing a song every day this month today. I didn't get much sleep last night, and had already put in several hours of work at my church gig. Got home after and only had about 90 minutes to write and post and get ready for the rest of the day which is going to take me out of the house until late tonight.
I was thinking today about someone from my past - I have managed to not circularly fixate on this person anymore, but when he came up in my ruminating, I felt a little lightness, a tenderness, a little smile almost.
Once I started digging into the writing process, I decided to approach the song like I would have when I was a younger person just writing songs (and often writing songs about this person specifically) - picking a shape that "sounded pretty" and just moving my fingers around a little bit to create some bass movement with some dissonance in the treble notes...
I wish I could have spent a little more time tightening this up/adjusting bits, working out the bridge a little more, and getting a better demo. BUT- this is all I can do today.
I'm actually REALLY happy with this one considering how much I was dreading writing today. It felt good and will fit in perfectly into the One Big Dark Room canon.
Thank you so much for your support!
