Hello August!
The latest:
It was a good plan, but, like always, seemingly, I misjudged how long everything would take, so between streaming on Twitch, jugging in-real-life gigs, and trying to get some new singles recorded and distributed, the big name change transition project had to be protracted. It’s still going very slowly, but the new self-imposed deadline for me to get things up to speed and “public official” is now September 1, 2023. 🫤
July Recap:
Most of my July was spent recording some new Holly Frost singles (fully-produced versions of 2023 original tunes Let’s Start Again and One Small Thing) in anticipation of my originally intended HF Launch Date of July 28.
Unfortunately I had some other big things I was trying to clear off my plate, including some subcontract recording work for a video game soundtrack. It was a cool opportunity, but that definitely meant I had to split the time I did have.
I was trying to make Holly Frost official by July 28 because I had booked my first “Holly Frost” public performance a few months ago for July 30. It was a small House Concert (and I even saw some Patrons there! ❤️), but it would have been a good opportunity to launch this project IRL. Because I didn’t have everything ready, I ended up just beating myself up about it the whole event. But I think we still had a good time, and it served as a very sweet and supportive “soft launch.”
Amidst the madness (there were 9 other IRL performance events for me last month!), I still managed to get you a new original song… and possibly my favorite for the year? Sleepy Sunday - a new vintage-Disney-songbook-inspired Holly Frost tune which included a prompt from Patron Emily T.
We had our July edition of Debut Night where I explained why the singles took so much longer than I expected, and did a sneak peek of the then-current state of them (they were very very very rough, with some bits still just ideas and not really “parts” drafted). Event + Broadcast Schedule:
I had to dial back the new Twitch schedule ever so slightly to accommodate for the big projects, so we’re down from 3x a week to 2x a week for the foreseeable future.
You can join us for Mouseketeer Mondays (where I play Disney songs mostly from the 30s-60s with a few slightly newer ones thrown in), or the recently reinstated a Twitch-version of Crooner Coffee Hour on Fridays. This month’s Debut Night is scheduled for August 30, and there I will do live-premieres of any new stuff, catch you up on the latest progress, and get some feedback from you for future projects. The link is available for you at the concert tab in the menu.
Lastly, we have our August One Big Dark Room livestream event this Wednesday, August 9, 2023 over on the One Big Dark Room Twitch channel (8PM ET).
The enthusiasm and excitement for this new chapter is still in full swing, and while I’m a little anxious/stressed/overwhelmed about everything I’m trying to do, I’m looking forward to what the future holds.
