Catch-Up Stream Tonight!
Hey friends -
If you read my last note you know I've been setting up a new studio area to do the streams and recordings. I got it "workable" (sorta) for the One Big Dark Room stream back on May 10, although it took forever to get it there and it wasn't near anywhere near as dialed as I wanted it to be because I just ran out of time to troubleshoot.
Fun fact: that day I had hoped/secretly planned to start that stream super early (5:30 or 6 my time) so we could have a nice long OBDR night, but setting up everything took SO long that I had to keep pushing back that start time later and later... so that even with my aspirational early start time I STILL started a half hour late. (For the record, pre-stream all day on May 10 was the second day of setup, where the first day was focused more on physical space/cabling/lighting, etc and day two was sound/OBS, etc.)
I was having such a hard time getting the sound "right," at about 7pm my time I finally was listening back to a recorded sound check and thought, "wow, okay, this is finally sounding pretty good!" And literally at that moment I heard the terrible sound of a guitar string breaking. So all the work I had done based around that one instrument was now no longer relevant, and I didn't have any more time to dial in levels for the other instruments I could have used, so I felt "off" and distracted the whole night trying to just make it work off the cuff. Basically the opposite of what I had intended.
With that in my recent memory, I haven't started streaming again yet because I still don't have everything set up. Between live-gigs and playing catch up with the fallout from March/April, I'm feel like I'm working constantly but haven't seen a lot of visible progress, which is frustrating. However, I have been spending my discretionary work time (and then some) trying to get everything set up so we can get back to a normal streaming schedule and I can get cranking on the recordings projects again.
Despite everything I've just said, face-to-face time with you is long overdue, and I have some things I want to share with you best done verbally on a stream, so I'm planning on hopping on Twitch for a little bit tonight just to chat before the normal Disney Night start time, and then do a short Disney Night. I don't know how it'll sound, I'm hoping the legwork I did a couple weeks ago for OBDR will transfer over and I can finish up the rest today before the event.
