Oh, boy. This one took so so long. You probably know by now I try to write whole songs in one sitting, and rarely ever split it up. But this one would not yield.
I really enjoyed working on this one but I paid the price. It took a lot of time and I even had to cancel a livestream tonight because I still didn’t have a solid piece of work to show you for today’s deadline, so I spent the rest of the day/night trying to get it done.
Another moorhaunter number (not only because I want to keep working on arrangements I can perform live on the stream, but also because after my 30Songs endeavor I’m a little resistant to digging back into DarkRoom or LexLand territory for the moment). I’m not super happy with this recording so it’s going to be a placeholder for now.
The easiest way for me to do this this late in the game/day was to try to get a live take of it - which, considering the final draft of the lyrics is only hours old and it’s one of those “signature” tongue-twister-tunes, was really challenging to execute while managing all the beats/loops/arrangement-items live. In fact, I didn’t really execute it properly. Also I’m still trying to dial in the sound through the fx box which is doubling as my interface at the moment. SO, it’s not an amazing recording and you’ll hear me struggling over the lyrics. But I actually really like this one so far and am excited to have a good skeleton of it.
I’ll be practicing it, and with a night or two of sleep it will gel and start to feel more engrained. So I’m hoping I can upload a better recording for you sometime this week.
