Hello March!

The latest:

I am SO bummed because I had prepped all this top-of-month-Vault stuff *ahead* of schedule for once (before March 1st), and then only just realized I never actually sent it out. 😭 Alas, I’m alive!

From February 1st to March 4th I performed live a total of 37 times between my typical monthly schedule of “live gigs,” the few live streams I did last month, and 27 cocktail hours opening up a run of shows at my local theatre most nights a week. I am supremely grateful to have had so much paid work last month to make up for the significant lack of it the month before, but of course when I’m out and about so much, it makes it a LOT harder to get sit-down-at-my-desk work done.

The biggest achievement is that I managed to not get sick, injured, or emotionally burnt out from such a significant sprint, which is what typically happens. To ensure successfully starting the next sprint, catch up on some sleep, and catch up on some chores, I took a couple days to regroup last week and get all my basic parts back in working order.

Though this coming month isn’t quite as full with booked commitments, it’s nearly half over already 😭 and there’s definitely plenty on my plate!

February Vault Recap:

  • Penned a new One Big Dark Room song: Unbelievably True (including a prompt submitted by Keyholder Emily T).

  • spilled a sneak peek of what I spent a lot of January and some of February working on: the public release of my favorite song from last year’s 7 Songs in 7 Days: Side by Side. I just posted the rough mix as a special little gift for this past Valentine’s Day to you, but I still have a few more hours of work left on it before it’s ready for release.

  • Played the new OBDR song live for the first time (as well as a new-to-the-book cover tune), and presented a lengthy and geeky breakdown of the Side by Side music production/recording session for the folks kind enough to attend the live Vault event for February on 2/20. If you missed it and you’d like to check it out, it’s available in the archive at the bottom of your Vault Events page.

Event + Broadcast Schedule:

The LoveLetterMusic calendar is actually complete and correct for once 🤣 so all the dates and links and have been set up for ya 😉

While I took last Friday off, Crooner Coffee Hours have otherwise been in full, consistent swing so far this year in its normal time slot on Friday mornings, and I’ve been broadcasting those to YouTube and Facebook as well as Twitch for most of (if not all?) of 2024 so far.

Probably the most exciting event this month will be our SIXTH anniversary party for Crooner Coffee Hour (which I started way back in February of 2018) which will take place on March 29th. The anniversary broadcasts have historically been fun and silly events where we play games/trivia, I give away prizes, and we have a good time. Hope you can join us!

Our monthly Vault Livestream Event will take place on March 19th. (These are happening as scheduled on THIRD Tuesdays of each month, just FYI.) The link is available at the Events tab.

Incidentally, I’ll be rushing off afterward that day to do an open-to-the-public IRL performance at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center - if you’re local to Austin, I hope you’ll swing by and enjoy what is always a super chill and lovely casual event.

Disney-song broadcasts and moorhaunter broadcasts continue their pause. One Big Dark Room livestreams are also still on hiatus.

Of course, the best way to know what’s happening with live broadcasts is to opt-in to notifications in our Discord Server.

Other plans for this month:

As you can probably tell, between all these events and live stream commitments I likely won’t have much time for other endeavors - I have a couple days blocked off to make sure Vault deliverables are turned in on time and administrated, and a couple of days to prep for the CCH party blocked off, which unfortunately only leaves me about three or four days (maybe) to work on recordings. I’m hoping to finish mixing Side by Side this week. It will still need to be mastered, and then it will go into the queue for release.

I’ll be really happy if I can get that far, and even happier if I can get one other song I’ve already worked on to a completed mix, or get another track to and through a completed mix. At this point, I would really love to get a solid batch of songs release-ready so that I will feel prepared/not behind when I do start releasing them. We’ll see how well my energy holds through the next few weeks! Wish me luck 🍀
