IT’S HAPPENING!

I am so excited to share this with you…

for literal years at this point, I've longed to have a true “product”… a recording (or collection of recordings) that really feels relevant to the current iteration of my primary project. Something that sounds like me but that also feels like it belongs with the other artists (mostly from the past, but contemporaries, too) within my genre. The Alones were, and were always meant to be, “good enough for now” placeholders until I could acquire the capital to get into the studio and do something closer to what I knew I wanted to represent me musically out in the world.

Of course, that never happened- but over the last 15 months or so something else has happened instead: I have been slowly but surely getting a little better at recording and producing things myself from home.

Unfortunately there haven’t been many publicly-visible fruits of this labor, as more than half the attempted projects grew so much in scope that I ran out of time to complete them before having to move on to something else. Here’s Where the Story Ends was a huge triumph and turning point in that I not only made a huge thing but I also finished it, and GOT IT RELEASED.

So under the gun of trying to get some bigger-in-production singles completed for the “new” project (AKA just me continuing on with what I was doing but with a different name) and a bunch of hiccups, I had to regroup, scale back, and try again so to give myself some more margin. The obstacles were worth it because the recent large-scale productions that were temporarily abandoned, and then the “let’s just power through” smaller ones in this batch, gave me some momentum, confidence, knowledge, and the practice required to bring you this one. (A fully-produced recording of a recent Vault-original song.)

And while it of course has some imperfections, I think I can proudly and confidently say that THIS ONE FEELS LIKE ME! This is it!

This has been a huge morale booster for me and for Eduardo, too, because I feel like we can both see the progress and are feeling more hopeful and optimistic about the future. It’s been a slog… these projects have been tough. They’ve been tedious and painstaking. But the challenging and humbling and invisible-to-the-rest-of-the-world work I’ve been doing lately is finally paying off.

I am so so SO happy to be able to launch “Holly Frost” with this little collection. Without your financial support (not to mention the encouragement!), I simply would not have been able to afford the time to do any of this. And because of your aid, I am getting closer to where I want to be.

This is the beginning of a new era and I am so excited to have you here with me at the jump -

I hope you love the track as much as I do - it’s dedicated to you!

(I’m submitting it today for immediate release but it’ll take a few days to go live.)

This third “quick and dirty” release was the last of the batch that I was shooting to have done as immediately as possible. There is a bonus one in the works, but I’m not sure what I’m going to prioritize and how I want to proceed next - I have quite a bit of admin to look after that I’ve been neglecting for the last week or so. But I’ll be in touch very soon with more updates and hopefully another recording!

We’re also inching ever-closer to this year’s “Seven Songs in Seven Days!”

Edited later to add, after Ed asked if I told you: I engineered this, produced it, arranged it, performed just about everything you hear. Produced the percussion session (fortunately had a very good drummer on-hand 😉), edited, mixed, and mastered this… all by myself… here at the home “studio.” Feeling very proud of myself today.

THANK YOU 🥹
